7HuesOnline: Intimacy is Space

Home / 7HuesOnline /  by Pan Jin

Pan Jin is a recent graduate from Parsons the New School for Design in BFA Fashion Design, with focus on womens-wear and knitwear. Inspired by daily emotions and scenes, the sensitive approach and intimate silhouettes are a common theme expressed in her collections. While in constant search of breaking the boundaries set by ready to wear today, Pan advocates maintaining the classic details and elements of everyday uniforms. Her design process evolves around the concrete reality and delicate moods, and she strives to achieve clothing that describes the ambiguous relationship between the wearer and wear itself.

This collection stuns with its clean silhouette and intricate lines, while exploring elaborate usages of mundane fabrication. Cotton knits and velvets lay against fishing line sweaters, creating a delicate yet invisible barrier. Screen prints of photos of crinkles are placed on garments, in order to imitate and reinforce the natural textures of clothing. The reddish orange color serves as a theme weaving through black and white tones, and ignites this collection with warmth and tenderness.
